Herder Custom Homes is a family run business serving Crested Butte. Mike and Danielle Herder ensure that your dream project is managed with professionalism and unparalleled ownership. Mike has 25 years of experience in the construction industry. He started his career as an apprentice under a licensed electrician, plumber and general contractor where he learned the hands-on aspects of building. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering and Management from Texas Tech University.
After college, Mike worked as a Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager on various large scale commercial projects including data centers, performance venues, surgical facilities with contract values up to 70 million dollars.
Danielle is a Realtor who is knowledgeable about the local real estate market and assists clients in buying/selling property in the Gunnison Valley. Danielle and Mike often team up to help their clients with lot selection, general constructability, remodels or repair concerns during the purchasing process.
Mike and Danielle have two children (Caleb and Julia) who constantly push the limits with their mountain adventures, often making their parents nervous as they conquer big terrain in the West Elk Mountains. Aside from running a successful business, raising “mountain kids” has been one of the most rewarding things about settling into this funky mountain town.
Our Philosophy
We understand that a home in Crested Butte is likely one of our clients most important and valuable investments. We are deliberate in the projects we choose to take on and endeavor to work with clients who value quality, attentiveness to detail, and true craftsmanship. We believe that early engagement and proactive planning can strongly influence the overall success of a project and love to assist clients as early in the process as possible. We feel project management is so essential to every project we only commit to projects we can ensure will be managed with the direct oversight they deserve.
